The report is based on a review of the Nordic Culture Fund's granted projects in 2015 and 2016 conducted by the fund's experts and put into perspective with their specific knowledge about developments and trends in art and culture in the Nordic countries - and internationally.

Benny Marcel, Director of the Nordic Culture Fund says:
"It is crucial for the Nordic Culture Fund to build up knowledge of its support areas and identify relevant and current issues in order to engage in an open dialogue with Nordic artists and cultural actors. Our experts have given the fund some interesting perspectives, and it is our clear opinion that the analyzes and interpretations are quite spot on, although of course there is no question of a scientific report with unique truths. In the trend report we can see a some development potential."

Interaction between granting and follow-up is one of two main priorities of the fund's strategy for the years 2016-2018, and this trend report is a first pilot project with just that goal in mind. During the first half of 2017, the fund's experts and board will work with the content of the report, with a particular focus on the fund's criteria for support, but the fund also hopes that the cultural field and other stakeholders will give feedback.

Nordic Culture Fund's experts are a group of professionals in a variety of different artistic and cultural areas from all over the Nordic region. The experts contribute with valuable input by assessing the quality of all applications and by engaging actively in the development of the fund. They are appointed on the basis of proposals by the national authorities for culture in the Nordic countries.
