Unesco Critical Voices

The report Critical Voices analyses and reviews UNESCO's instruments for defending the freedom of expression of researchers, artists and journalists.

It stems from the need to take a more comprehensive and strategic approach to the issue of freedom of expression – not least in the light of the Covid-19 crisis, which has put fundamental rights under increasing pressure in many countries.

The report concludes with 25 concrete recommendations for future work on human rights within UNESCO.

The report is part of the Nordic Culture Fund's ongoing collaboration with UNESCO's Danish National Commission and its delegation in Paris within the Globus programme.
